History of Indian Head Massage
Indian Head Massage (or 'Champissage') is based on the ancient Ayurvedic healing system. It has been practiced in India for over a thousand years, originally by women to keep their hair in beautiful condition by stimulating blood flow to the scalp, thereby nourishing the hair roots. Indian Head Massage is also an integral part of Indian family life and is not only performed at home within families but is commonly seen being performed on street corners, the beach and in barbers' shops.
What is Indian Head Massage?
Indian Head Massage uses massage strokes and pressure to the points on the head, neck and shoulders, which are important energy centres in the body. If you are feeling stressed or angry, tension tends to accumulate. This tension can result in a stiff neck or shoulders, eye strain or headaches.
